Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.
An important representative stated the attack made him stunned and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
